Elm Farm Cycle centre, Cornwall, provides cycle hire, tuition, bike building, servicing and repairs all year round. From there you can cycle across England in a day, by travelling along the scenic Coast to Coast trail!
Our cycle hire offers a wide range of cycles for all ages including tag-a-longs, kiddie trailers, child seats and tandems. Helmets, toolkits, locks, maps, pumps and parking are FREE with the hire;
We are located directly on the trail itself, 2 miles from Portreath, Porthtowan and Redruth. We have a picnic area with panoramic views across the valley to Carn-Brea, A farm shop for snacks, treats, Tea and real ale on tap, and a well stocked bicycle shop.About the Coast to Coast Trail:
This trail runs for 11 miles from the lovely coastal village of Portreath to Devoran, alongside the stunning Restronguet Creek, and is almost entirely on purpose built cycle paths or quiet country lanes. Part of the Mineral Tramways Cycle Network, the Coast to Coast Trail it is flat (ponies pulling copper ore and coal didn't like hills), making it ideal for children and beginner riders, along the route there are plenty of extra tracks with more demanding sections for those who like challenges!
This picturesque trail is literally a cross-section through our
stunning county, rich with wildlife, and industrial heritage from a bygone
mining era, with lovely traditional country pubs and cream tea cafes all the
way.
For a shorter or quicker option, try the gentle ride to Portreath and back (about 4 miles in total, along the side of the beautiful Portreath valley)
At the end of your adventure why not enjoy a celebratory rest in our south-facing picnic area with its panoramic views across the valley to Carn-Brea!- Flat, easy, safe with beautiful and varied landscape
